Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 2026

DepartWith exists because building a family is one of the most meaningful things a person can do — and everyone deserves a safe, honest community to help make that happen. These guidelines are here to keep this space warm, respectful, and trustworthy for everyone who uses it.

Please read them. They apply to everything you do on DepartWith: your profile, your photos, your messages, and how you treat other members.

1. Our Mission

DepartWith is a community for people exploring co-parenting, sperm donation, egg donation, and surrogacy. Our goal is to give you a trustworthy place to find compatible partners for your family-building journey — whether you are a single parent, a couple, a prospective donor, or someone considering surrogacy.

We want DepartWith to feel safe, inclusive, and human. That means everyone — regardless of relationship structure, sexual orientation, gender identity, family configuration, or background — is welcome here, as long as they treat others with the same respect they expect for themselves.

2. Be Honest

Everything on your profile should be accurate and up to date. Other members make important life decisions based on what you share — honesty is not optional here.

  • Use real photos of yourself. Your profile photo must be a clear, recent photo of you — not a cartoon, an avatar, a stock image, or a photo of someone else.
  • Describe yourself accurately. Your age, location, health information, lifestyle, and intentions should reflect reality. Embellishing or omitting key details to seem more appealing is not fair to the people you connect with.
  • One account per person. Duplicate profiles are not allowed. If you need to update your information, edit your existing profile.
  • No fake profiles. Creating a profile to impersonate someone else, to research competitors, or for any purpose other than genuine family-building is prohibited.
  • If something changes, update it. If your circumstances, intentions, or availability change significantly, update your profile so others are not misled.

3. Be Respectful

This community brings together people from many different backgrounds, beliefs, and family structures. Respectful communication is non-negotiable.

  • No harassment. Do not repeatedly contact someone who has not responded or has asked you to stop. Do not threaten, intimidate, or follow someone across the platform.
  • No discrimination. Discriminatory language or behavior based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other characteristic is not allowed — in messages, profile text, or anywhere else on the platform.
  • No unsolicited sexual messages. DepartWith is a family-building platform. Sending sexually explicit or suggestive messages that were not invited by the other person is prohibited and may result in immediate removal.
  • No hate speech. Content that dehumanizes, demeans, or promotes hostility toward any group of people has no place here.
  • Rejections are final. If someone does not respond, or declines contact, accept that gracefully. Pressuring or guilt-tripping other members is not respectful.

4. Photos Policy

Photos help members connect and build trust — but there are firm rules about what is and is not acceptable.

  • No nudity or sexually explicit content. Photos that show nudity, sexual acts, or explicit content will be removed and may result in your account being suspended.
  • Photos must be of you. Do not upload photos of other people, celebrities, or images taken from the internet. All photos must be genuine photos of you.
  • No stock photos or AI-generated images. Photos that look staged, filtered beyond recognition, or artificially generated are not permitted as profile photos.
  • Photos of minors require consent. If you include a photo that shows a child, you must have parental or guardian consent for that image to appear on a public-facing platform. We strongly recommend keeping photos of children off your profile to protect their privacy.
  • Profile photos must show your face. Your primary profile photo should clearly show your face so other members can identify you.

5. Communication Rules

The messaging system exists to help genuine connections form. Please use it that way.

  • No spam. Do not send the same message to large numbers of members. Take the time to reach out to people individually and meaningfully.
  • No commercial advertising or solicitation. Do not use DepartWith messages or your profile to promote products, services, businesses, or opportunities unrelated to your family-building goals. This includes fertility clinics, legal services, financial products, and anything else commercial in nature.
  • No sharing others' private information. What someone shares with you in a private message stays private. Do not screenshot, forward, or post elsewhere anything a member has shared with you without their explicit permission.
  • No off-platform recruitment. Do not use messages to recruit members to other platforms, communities, or services.
  • Keep contact info out of public profiles. Phone numbers, personal email addresses, home addresses, and social media handles should not appear in your publicly visible profile. Share contact details privately once you have established trust with someone.

6. Safety First

Meeting someone from the internet about something as significant as family building deserves real care. Here are some practices we strongly encourage:

  • Meet in a public place first. When meeting a potential match in person for the first time, choose a public location like a cafe or park — not a private residence.
  • Tell someone where you are going. Let a friend or family member know who you are meeting, where, and when you expect to be back.
  • Verify before you trust. Before entering into any arrangement, ask questions, request supporting documents (such as medical test results), and take the time to get to know someone properly. Anyone who pressures you to move unusually fast should be treated with caution.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, step back. You are never obligated to continue a conversation or arrangement that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Consult the professionals. We strongly recommend speaking with a reproductive attorney and a licensed fertility clinic before entering into any co-parenting, donor, or surrogacy arrangement. DepartWith can help you find connections — the legal and medical side needs qualified professionals.

If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency services. For urgent safety concerns on the platform, email info@departwith.com with "URGENT" in the subject line.

7. Prohibited Content

The following are never allowed on DepartWith, under any circumstances:

  • Explicit or pornographic material of any kind, in any profile field or message.
  • Content that facilitates or promotes illegal activity, including but not limited to illegal compensation arrangements, trafficking, fraud, or any other violation of applicable law.
  • Scams and financial deception. Do not misrepresent yourself or your intentions in order to obtain money, gifts, or anything of value from other members. Advance-fee scams and similar tactics are treated as serious violations.
  • Impersonation. Do not pretend to be someone you are not — including impersonating a specific individual, a fertility professional, a legal expert, or a DepartWith employee.
  • Content involving minors in a sexual context. This is an absolute zero-tolerance offense. Any such content will be immediately reported to law enforcement.
  • Soliciting natural insemination. Requests or offers for sexual intercourse as a method of conception are strictly prohibited.
  • Underage use. DepartWith is for adults only. Users must be 18 or older. Any account we believe to belong to a minor will be removed immediately.

8. Reporting & Enforcement

We rely on the community to help keep this space safe. If you see something that does not belong here, please report it.

How to report: Use the report button on any profile or message, or email info@departwith.com directly. Include as much detail as you can — screenshots are helpful.

What happens after you report:

  • Our team reviews every report. We aim to respond to all reports within 48 hours.
  • Depending on the severity, we may issue a warning, temporarily suspend an account, or permanently ban a user.
  • For serious violations — including explicit content involving minors, credible threats of violence, scams, or any illegal activity — the account will be banned immediately with no warning.
  • We may share information with law enforcement when required by law or when we believe someone is in danger.

False reports: Reporting a member in bad faith — for example, to retaliate against someone who rejected you — is itself a violation of these guidelines and may result in action against your account.

9. Your Responsibility

DepartWith is a platform that helps people find each other. It is not a matchmaking agency, a medical provider, a legal service, or a fertility clinic. This distinction matters.

  • You are responsible for the decisions you make. Any arrangement you enter into with another member — including co-parenting agreements, donor arrangements, and surrogacy — is entirely your own decision. DepartWith does not broker, oversee, or take responsibility for those arrangements.
  • We do not verify user information. Profile information is self-reported. We do not conduct background checks, verify medical claims, confirm fertility status, or screen members beyond our standard account review. You should do your own due diligence before entering into any arrangement.
  • Arrangements are between users. Any commitments, agreements, or contracts made between members are solely between those individuals. DepartWith is not a party to those arrangements and cannot be held liable for their outcomes.
  • Get professional advice. Before proceeding with any family-building arrangement, we strongly encourage you to consult a reproductive attorney and a licensed fertility specialist. These are complex decisions with long-term legal and medical implications.

10. Age Requirement

DepartWith is strictly for adults. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account or use the platform in any way.

If we have reason to believe that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove that account immediately. If you believe a minor has created an account, please report it to us at info@departwith.com right away.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We reserve the right to request proof of age at any time.
